A couple of weeks ago, Eric and I had the opportunity to participate, and present, at the Texas Sungard User Group conference. Their annual conference was held in Houston this year and was full of great sessions and networking. They certainly accomplished their goal of bringing together users of SunGard K12 products in one location, allowing members to meet and exchange information.
We started thinking, based on a recent event that we attended that was lacking in coffee service, what if WE actually provided coffee right at our booth! So, we decided that we would be barista’s and provide gourmet coffee drinks to all the attendees. Off we go to Houston with our coffee beans, vanilla syrup and all the fixings to provide Coffee, Americano, Latte, Espresso and Cappuccinos. Here’s where the fun part starts – as the orders came in, we created a cool dashboard, using Cognos, showing the results of the orders placed. We tracked type of coffee, number of drinks by school district and whole bunch of other scenarios. Check out a screenshot of our dashboard!
Needless to say, we had a great time and I think most people enjoyed the coffee but better yet, attendees got to see Cognos in action and how easily you can gain insight from all the data that we collect as businesses, education organizations, user groups, etc. As you can see from the dashboard, Latte’s were the drink of the show. And eSchoolPLUS users drink more coffee, while CyFair drank the most coffee – who knew!
